I LOVE photographing red heads. I’m not quite sure what it is, but I have loved red hair since I was a little girl. Always kind of wished my hair would magically turn red. I’m pale enough after all. It would totally work… i think.
Unfortunately, that never happened, but I have been lucky enough to work with some beautiful red heads in my day. I took Alexandra (Ally) and Kari to one of my favorite outdoor shooting locations. I’m sure you’ll recognize it from previous posts, but I couldn’t think of anywhere better to capture these two natural red heads. I used all natural lighting for this shoot and in continuation with my Natural Beauty Project, Ally and Kari wore minimal make-up and their hair beautifully wild. This shoot was a dream, and I hope to work with these two, together or separate, again.
Ally and Kari have known each other since adolescence, and there’s just something pure about their friendship. We shared a lot of laughs during our shoot, as you’ll see in a few of the images, and it was so refreshing to see that they weren’t afraid to be silly; which you’ll also see in an image or two.
At the end of the month, Ally will be heading to Switzerland where she will be attending a 3 month ministry leadership school and then signing a year commitment to work at the YWAM Lausanne base. She has felt a calling to minister to those who need her beautiful heart, and I could not be more proud of her and the lives she will inevitably change. She is also excited for the possibility to lead worship and participate in music outreach within the city.
Kari on the other hand has her toe out the door to Norway where she will be on a tour with her mother, and singer-songwriter, Solveig Leithaug. Kari has such a sweet, fun loving, creative spirit and is such a joy to be around. During our shoot she had my eyes watering from laughter with a Julia Child impression. I’m not even kidding when I say, it was spot on!! THE BEST! And I may have asked her to send me a video of said impression once a week to keep my spirit up. The only thing I wish, is that I could be there to hear her perform with her mother. I have no doubt it will be amazing, to say the very least.
Safe travels girls. Come back to us safely, and I hope you enjoy your images.
